MOTS-c
Where movement meets metabolic flexibility.
Preclinical research focus
- Exercise endurance
- Blood-sugar control
- Physical capacity with age
MOTS-c is a naturally occurring, 16-amino-acid peptide encoded in mitochondrial DNA. It acts as a signal between mitochondria and the rest of the cell, linking changing energy demands with the body's response to exercise and metabolic stress.

About MOTS-c
For anyone drawn to an active life, the way the body responds to changing demands is a fascinating place to start. MOTS-c brings movement and metabolism together: a naturally occurring mitochondrial peptide investigated for its role in energy sensing, fuel use and the cellular response to exercise.
A peptide at the meeting point of exercise and metabolic science.
Why adaptability matters
An active day brings changing demands, from sustained movement to rest. Cells continually respond to the energy available and the work being asked of them. MOTS-c’s research story centres on that adaptability, giving it a clear connection to exercise and metabolic biology.
A signal from the mitochondria
MOTS-c is a short peptide whose sequence is encoded in mitochondrial DNA. In laboratory studies, it interacts with pathways that sense energy availability. This signalling role distinguishes it from molecules that act as fuel or directly participate in energy-producing reactions.
The exercise connection
A human study found that the body’s own MOTS-c increased after exercise. Separate experiments in mice examined administered MOTS-c and physical capacity. Together, these findings explain why the peptide has attracted attention at the intersection of movement, metabolism and ageing.
A clear choice with Bloom
Bloom offers MOTS-c in 20 mg and 40 mg strengths, as a freeze-dried vial or prepared pen. Each option is clearly identified by presentation, keeping the selection easy to review when discussing this peptide and your goals with a qualified professional.
Available options
- MOTS-c 20 mg or 40 mg
- Available as a lyophilized vial or prepared pen
Explore the science with the study type in mind: human observations describe the body’s own MOTS-c, while taking MOTS-c is a separate question. Human evidence is needed to understand its potential benefits and safety for fitness, metabolism and longevity.
